Agouim …

Off we went … Heading off pavement at. Amezal …

A bit of the map …

Heading up the Tizzi-n’Melout and Tizzi-n’Tieta … we wanted to be heading west for Aoulouz …

Road construction … it was to be our undoing, as far as the way (the direct way, anyway) to Aoulouz was concerned …

20140103-073019.jpg

We stopped to look at the map …

20140103-073150.jpg

And met this nice shepherd …

20140103-073351.jpg

Who soon invited us to lunch … we think … Cary’s Moroccan Arabic phrase book came in handy …

20140103-073715.jpg

We walked up to his cook fire …

Making us tea …

20140103-074613.jpg

And lamb heart sandwiches … Yum!

20140103-074800.jpg

It turned out that we’d been turned around in the construction zone, and were heading north, completely out of our way … oh well …

We adopted “plan b” …

We rode on …

So, we were a bit lost, and pursuing a “plan b” when this water crossing bit me …

Cary’s in this pic if you look closely …

As I was climbing up from there I clouted the wall on the right, knocking the hard bag from its mount and careening and crashing head foremost into the right hand rock wall … ouch!

I picked the bike up and inspected the damage … The bike had crashed well, except that the lever was bent so badly I could not shift gears … drat!

It took me a while to pick myself up off the ground, sort of lost, sort of sore, with a bike that sort of would not shift … oh, and it sort of was getting dark soon …

Cary giving me the “what’s up” look when I finally caught up after being lucky enough to be able to recall the shift lever to its duty with a rock …
