We’d stopped for gas in Zagora and chatted with the attendant who tried to sell us his brother’s tour company … and also to come and see his garage … we were in a rush to get to M’Hamid, and pushed on, but clearly our friend at the gas station had called his brother, Ali, who ran us down in Tagounite …

Morocco was for me like a roller coaster … I may have felt scared sometimes, but in fact I was always perfectly safe … we admitted to being nervous that we were about to be robbed following some guy off road, but Ali and his bivouac turned out to be beautiful …
