Mark William Sweeney, 12/17/1962 – 07/19/2013

My brother Mark passed away on Friday afternoon … he was at home with Catherine and Evan and Heather … he had been fighting his cancer, so it was a comfort that he was able to spend his last hours surrounded by his beautiful family in the home he loved …

Heather, Mark’s fifteen-year-old daughter, wrote this poem:

I slowly watch him fade away

his eyes turn from brown to gray

as a ray of sunlight leaves the sky

his heart will never leave from mine

I hold his hand and kiss his cheek

for he is gray, and frail and weak

a teardrop falls onto the bed

where he will lay, and rest his head …
— Heather C. Sweeney

The photo was taken in Cliffside Park, New Jersey, in 1964 …
Godspeed, Mark!
