From Phoenix to Buttonwillow to home

I headed out early Easter Sunday morning from Mike’s place (thx again Mike and Andy!)… Sun coming up over Mike’s neighborhood

I made up a couple of hours on I-10 -I wanted some time to check out some of the rural farm roads. Road 95 along the Colorado River Indian Reservation with super green beautiful alphalpha growing (I think).

When I got up to the Earp, Ca / 62 road turn off, I made a call to head up 95 to check out the Parker Dam – a nice road along the Colorado River and a perfect place for donkeys to hang out

Lots of recreational camping areas for hanging out in the river. I pulled off for a couple of pics …

The Parker Dam built between 1934 and 1938 by the Bureau of Reclamation, it is 320 feet (98 m) high, 235 feet (72 m) of which are below the riverbed, making it “the deepest dam in the world”.

Headed towards Lake Havasu – gased up and had a quick bite to eat before a bit of a slog down I-40 for a few hours. It was a little gusty and some rain …

Which made for a beautiful big desert sky…

And a rainbow…

Split off onto 58 over to Buttonwillow – a little over 500 miles for the day, ending close to sunset… Fun cow statue on 58 near Buttonwillow

Stayed at the motel 6 near I-5 in Buttonwillow – $35/nite. I slept like a rock.

Up and out at 8 this AM … Chance of showers everywhere you looked… Was going to take 46 west across up to 33 and stay off I-5, but when I pulled off to check the weather, my bike wouldn’t fire back up – no charging issues up until this point- so I rolled it over to the big rig pull off area near a gas station and was able to two very nice guys help push so I could bump start it… After a couple of pushes – we got it going … I said good by to my heavy breathing Good Samaritan friends and decided to head on up I-5… Which wasn’t too brutal since it was relatively cool out and the sky was pretty… Made super good time- cut over onto 152 to get off of I-5 and head west- was home 1pm!

Home again home again jigity jig – 1750 miles- good roads, good friends- an awesome trip!
