Canyon de Guadalupe

From Julian the road led south to Tecate … Still cold, but the rain had stopped, so we were happy, and the road rolled nicely through the mountains … The last time Cary and I went this way there was lots of snow on the ground …

We took a wrong-ish turn here, and wound up in some sand …

We got the hang of the sand after this little mishap and had fun in the dunes on the heavy KLRs …

More sand … the ride into the canyon is actually not that easy …

We ran into our friend Heidi the morning we were leaving … her friend Termagant had fallen on her way in, and broke her ankle, and had to spend the night in the desert, 12 miles from the campground …

Heidi rounded up the cavalry in the form of JD and Herron, who agreed to drive out and rescue Termagant …

The rescue went well … Heidi rode Termagant’s bike back to camp … Their truck was only three hours away at the border, so Heidi planned on riding to get the truck and then drive back to get Termagant and her bike … quite a day!
