Dia de los Muertos

We celebrated Dia de los Muertos in San Francisco tonight …

Cary made an alter for the Festival of Altars at Garfield Park … This was the 26th annual Festival and over 15,000 people were in attendance …

We set the altar up in the park … Altars are a way to remember a family member who has passed away, and often include candles and offerings of food … we included Sweet Tarts and Gummi Bears as well as some pan de muertos that we purchased from a local bakery, and flowers … the altar turned out beautifully.

Then we went and found a fun drum crew in the Day of the Dead Procession …

It was surreal and lots of people looked at Rita Anne’s altar …
