Hot Springs along the Eastern Sierras

We’d been dreading the heat and wind along Route 395, but in the event it was only in the low 90s during the heat of the day, and any wind we had was a tail-wind …

We rolled through Movie Flats in the Alabama Hills just below Whitney Portal …

We got to Keough’s Hot Springs and got one of the cool tent cabins …

We enjoy reading aloud to one another around the campfire and have been enjoying this book … A blurb on the cover proclaims that it may be the best western ever written … which may be true …

We went for a soak in the old-school pool, built in the 1930s …

We had a great lunch at Jack’s Restaurant and then went to see the Laws Train Museum …

We loved this place … The weather was perfect … no wind! We had our own private hot-tub …

The Benton Hot Springs Cemetery … Still in recent use, with markers that also go back to the late 1800s …

We hope to return to Benton Hot Springs and use it as a base camp … Simply beautiful with a ton of dirt roads to explore …
