New Shock for Ninjette

We were all ready to head down to Buttonwillow for the AFM opener this afternoon, but the Board of Directors, unanimously, called it off last night at 8:45 p.m.

That’s the second time in as many years we’ve been rained out, but at least we didn’t have to sit in the paddock all weekend, like last year (the AFM does not race in the rain because it never rains in California, and because there are hillsides and guardrails to slide into at Sears Point) …

So, anyway, our friend Lisa Kinberger was super-nice, and is loaning us a “new” shock for Cary’s 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250 racebike, which I installed before the race weekend was cancelled …

Jack-stands under the rear-set foot-pegs get the rear tire off the ground …

The “new” rear shock … It was modified for Pete Demas from a stock shock by adding a pre-load spacer and remote reservoir …

It was a bit tricky to find a place to mount the reservoir, but we eventually found a spot for it on the exhaust bracket … We should take it to James at Super Plush now that we have six weeks ’till the next race …

James may be able to add a ride height adjuster, which would let us raise the rear of the bike and let Cary lean it over further before hard parts start dragging … I need to go see James anyway, and get emulators put into the 1989 Honda VTR 250 …

See you in the paddock …
